Introduction Government LPS Muttacaud is situated at Muttacaud, near the world famous tourist centre Kovalam. Our place is blessed by the beauty of nature. The natives of this place are poor working class. They consider this school as a temple which can make the future of their children glorious. Historical Background This school was started in 1919 bySri.Govindapilla, who was a member of Sree Moolam Prajasabha. He belongs to Oottarathala house, Muttacaud. The school starteds functioning in his house. After that a shed was built in the property of Muttacaud Kandan Sastha temple. The first Headmistress of this school was Smt.Bhargavi Amma. The first student of this school was B.Santha Kumari. She was the daughter of Kurathuveettil R.Narayanapillai. Later a building was built in 50 cent property which was donated by the authorities of Sastha temple. It was a raw building. In due course the existing tiled building was built in its place. With an aim of upgrading this school, an 150 feet long shed was being built by PTA in 1965. Even though an order was issued it was not fulfilled yet. Due to the efforts of parents and natives, a two storied building was granted in 1968-69. The foundation stone was laid in March 30 1969 by Sri.Damodaran Potti who was the speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly then. The building was inaugurated by former Education Minister Sri C.H Mohammed Koya in 9th March 1972.
